    The most notable recent news on healthcare reform has been the U.S. House of Representatives vote to repeal healthcare reform.  While that action has and will generate significant debate and headlines, it is not expected to result in immediate change to federal healthcare reform – especially since the Senate is unlikely to consider, let alone pass, repeal legislation.

    Some provisions of the new law are already well defined, with set effective dates. Other provisions of the law remain to be clarified through the development of new regulations by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services or other federal or state regulators. Regulatory action is likely to have a substantive impact on how reform is implemented and will ultimately affect purchasers of healthcare coverage.

    Following an intense, passionate debate, the full House narrowly approved the Senate-passed healthcare reform bill by a vote of 219 to 212. Thirty-four Democrats joined all Republicans in voting against the Senate bill, which will be sent immediately to President Obama to be signed into law in a ceremony expected on Tuesday.
